This is a reproduction of John Martin's 1852 masterpiece, "Christ Stilleth the Tempest". The original painting is 50.8 by 76.2 cm and is an oil on cardboard. It is is in the York Museums Trust. Martin went on the enjoy immense popularity and produced many works featuring Biblical scenes. Early producers of motion picture epics were heavily influenced by Martin's work. He died in 1854 at the age of sixty-four years.
