Description
Cocaine. Part of a coca plant (Erythroxylon coca) seen with straws and cocaine. This alkaloid drug comes from the coca plant's leaves. By snorting, the cocaine is absorbed into the bloodstream through the nasal membrane, producing feelings of exhilaration and energy. Prolonged cocaine use leads to psychological dependence, while snorting the drug may damage the nose lining. Overdoses can cause brain seizures or cardiac arrest.
