Description
Santa Catalina convent is probably Arequipa's most notable colonial structure and its most popular tourist attraction. The convent is in fact a separate walled town close to the city centre, a part of it still functions as a monastery and is off limits to the public. This image was taken inside the kitchens, which are still pretty much look as they were centuries ago. The convent and Arequipa's historic colonial centre were added to UNESCO's list of World Heritage Sites in 2000.
