Fall in the Napa Valley must be my favorite time of year to visit the area, The smell of the crush and bottling operations in process, the crisp cool morning air with clear skies and the vines start taking on their fall colors. If I'm lucky I can catch a light fog over the vineyards as the hot air balloons lift off. This image was found while driving around early one morning in the Napa Valley. It was Fall and most of the grapes have been harvested but the leaves were still on the vine. The early morning light had a certain quality that seemed to cause the leaves to glow on the vine.
Napa County has maintained a rural agricultural environment in a large portion of the valley floor while neighboring Sonoma, Solano and Yolo counties have allowed large tracts of former farmland to be rezoned for commercial and residential development.
