Description
The copperhead is an ambush predator that uses pit organs between the eye and nostrils to detect and strike at prey without the need of vision. These pit organs can detect thermal changes of prey less than 0.3 C warmer than their surrounding. This paired with its great camouflage makes it a formidable predator. (Agkistrodon contortrix)
