Tropical thunder – Pacific campaign WW2
Operating from the RN Carrier HMS Vengeance the Corsairs of 1850 Squadron were at the forefront of carrier ops. Working up in the Med while based at Malta the squadron was sent out to join the Pacific fleet towards the end of WW2. Apart from the hazards of combat ops the intense weather systems of tropical thunderstorms made for some ‘eventful’ flights.
A formidable aircraft with a very fine combat record, an icon of naval air operations.
