One of the few items of the 1989 UM BBall Championship that I've seen. Very nice

This is one of three pieces that I am adding to my collection. Once I have received the other two pieces I will be happy to provide a photograph of the display. The quality of the art piece is exceptional. I wouldn't hesitate to purchase even more pieces!

We were disappointed that the name of the artist is cut off and not showing in full. We feel the name of the artist is an important part of it and would love to have it rectified

We live in the desert so the Palm theme resonates. The color scheme is brilliant and perfect. We would like to see more from this artist. Where do we look?
Artist's Description
This painting is structured on three planes. These are foreground - terminal branches with spring buds; middleground - orange pendant windblown branches.; and background - the blue winter Albuquerque, New Mexico sky. Treating three- dimensional space as as three separate two-dimensional planes creates, I feel, the effect of a 19th century stereoscopic photograph.
The biomorphic aspects of the painting center on the positive (cottonwood) space with the zoomorphic / phallic aspect of the buds and the microbial-fungal-hyphal transformation of the orange middleground branches.
At the time I didn't particularly like this painting, now, after having lived with it for a year, I like it very much.
About Ray Petersen
My paintings are acrylics on wood panels. I am fascinated by organic form and color. My subjects are mostly plants, especially trees. In doing my art, I find that other organic forms, frequently suggestive of animals and people, subliminally appear in the paintings. I call this emergence of form, as others have, biomorphic art - literally “life-form” art. I love to paint. The act of painting transcends for me the subject of the painting. Bright colors, especially the three primaries - red, yellow, and blue - are integral to my art. Artists I especially love are Sheldon Harvey, Blaine Larson, Philip Guston, Arshile Gorky, Albert Pinkham Ryder and Willem de Kooning. [Theoretical Aside: According to a quantum-cosmological...

I love trees, plants, twigs, bushes, grass _ think I would not want to live in a world devoid of them, assuming it was possible in the first place. This work here seems to me to blend well nature with the emerging forms on your canvas (wood panel) and their symbolic content. Thanks for your comment on composition in green _ I have corrected the size (which was a mistake) and responded to your comment on the site. Thanks again…

Ray, I can see you have a passion for painting...and a passion for painting trees. I love the negative shapes that you create in your work. Thank you for your comments on "Tree of Light". We share a love of trees.

Ray, thank you for the kind post on my yellow roses painting. I enjoyed visiting your page and viewing your paintings. I like the abstract quality and the colors in this piece especially. Look forward to seeing more of your work. Yours, Thom
