Artist's Description
What inspired me to paint this is my photograph of Moon. I decided to change the color, shift the light source and add the two horses standing behind all in a swirling cloud of dust. Facing us is an almost challenging, but curious horse, the filtered sun-light casts a shadow and reflects from the eyes....as he gazes at us.
About Elizabeth Lane
I am a third generation artist, tutored by my father in my early years and self-taught later on. My formal art education began in secondary and high school, as well as college. My studies included general art courses, design, painting and art history. My work has appeared in student exhibits, juried regional and national shows, as well as a private show of my own. Several of my paintings are now in private collections. I am fascinated by the process of painting to create illusions of space and depth. The most appropriate label for my work would be trompe-l'oeil, my purpose being to elicit an emotional response from the viewer.
