Beautiful pinkish orange hibiscus blossoms float across this dreamscape of tropical beauty.
The pale tones on the blossoms remind me of Creamsicles, which were my favorite ice cream bar when I was a child. Creamsicles were vanilla ice cream covered with an orange sherbet coating. Yum!! They were so cool and refreshing on a warm summer afternoon in Florida.
This painting was begun by placing paint on paper, and then pressing saran wrap into the paper. Once the paint had dried, the plastic wrap was removed, leaving shapes which were the basis of this painting.
This unusual painting technique yields serendipitous results which I find delightful. It also gives an image a fresh, loose, and textured look.
The palette of this piece, which has a Caribbean, or tropical, look and feel, is a complementary color scheme of lime green and melon orange.
