Ink illustration of a female crowned lemur.
Drawn using one of my own photographs as reference, I used mostly Sakura pigma micron marker pens and a brush pen for the darkest areas.
The crowned lemur is an endangered species of lemur, found in the far north of Madagascar. They live in the tropical dry deciduous forests and eat mostly fruit, flowers and leaves. They have a distinctive crown on the top of their head, females have light grey fur with an orange crown whilst males are a darker reddish brown grey, with a black and orange crown.
Lemurs are a primate found only on the Island of Madagascar There is around 100 living species of lemur, most of which are small with big eyes and long tails. According to the IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature) lemurs are the worlds most endangered mammals.
