Bruce-Thank you for the Feature in Comfortable Art. John

I like so many of your works, but I love this one! Wow!

Hi John, I hope you had a wonderful Christmas. The painting sure tells the story of a slower, simpler life. I am sure you know that the church also served as a school at least in some places back then. Have a great New Year.

I’m very pleased with my Back2bike bag from artist John Kurtyka. The bag is high quality so it holds my library books quite securely. And since I’m a bike rider, I love the picture, so unique, people notice it and comment so I tell them about this website and the unique works of this artist.

Gorgeous photo on the bag. Loved that I could adjust the photo size to suit my preference. Wanted to use for going to the health food store as I need to replace the 15 year old canvas, washable bags I have now. These will not last as long as those canvas bags. I could even deal with slight fading when I needed to wash them. These do not feel washable. Cheap mesh "fabric" on the interior will tear. Disappointed in the fabric on the inside and outside.

I was hoping for a heavyweight cotton canvas bag to use for grocery shopping; this will not be it. I wanted a bag that would be washable. This has a cheap mesh fabric on the interior that will tear in short order. The exterior is some sort of nylon or other synthetic fabric that I do not feel comfortable washing. I guess I didn't realize what kind of fabric it was made of. It is beautiful but not useful for my needs.

I wanted some pretty tote canvas tote bags to replace the durable canvas bags I use for trips to the health food store. While certainly beautiful, this bag will not be useful for that purpose. The interior is made of that lightweight, cheap mesh fabric that tears with the slightest bit of stress on it. I was hoping for heavy canvas, but this is an odd fabric that will not hold up for what I wanted to use it for.

Perfect sunflower for a resting place on a tote

Artist's Description

I painted this work because our school in American history interests me. This Christmas interior scene brings together a special time in a school year and by the way I went to a one room schoolhouse for a short while in the fifties.

About John Williams

Hi~ Art has always been one of my first loves! I attended Paire Art School-then four years in the Navy. Returning home I graduated from the Univ. of New Haven, CT with a degree in the Arts. But I followed another path and that led to 20+ years in retail management. Yet I always found myself drawn to beautiful art and wanted to follow my dream. In 1997, I bought a coffee shop/ 2 art galleries in Lambertville, New Jersey and began painting in earnest. After selling these gallery sites in 2002, I have been able to enjoy the life and times of an artist full time. Now I paint pastels, acrylics, oils, watercolors, and create monoprints rotating medias daily and truly love this view of...
