I just did a total bathroom rehab and was browsing thru prints on fine arts to add some culture to my barren walls. Stumbled across these 2 from Maynard Dixon. “Desert Hustle” depicts Convair Chief Test Pilot Beryl Erickson’s two hour, 1,400 mile dash from Carswell AFB to Edwards AFB at a speed of 700 MPH, and altitudes not exceeding 500 feet, in a fresh production Convair B-58 Hustler.
In “Desert Hustle,” I’ve depicted B-58 s/n 58-1015 flying over a desert portion of Test Pilot Beryl Erickson’s flight plan. Under the brilliant azure sky, the Hustler flies in valleys between buttes and over scrub-covered terrain at 300 feet toward Edwards AFB.
