The Poem, Desiderata, was written in 1927 by the American Writer, Max Ehrmann. However, his excellent work was all but lost when a copy of it was found in 1959. However, it was believed at that time the work was from 1692 and was penned for the opening of St. Paul’s Church in Baltimore.

Desiderata was read at Adlai Stevenson’s funeral in 1965 and still attributed to the 1692 date. When the poem went widely public Ehrmann’s family sued for compensation and won. However, through the years, the family failed to keep up their sole claim to Desiderata and it was put into the Public Domain by the 7th Court of Appeals in 1976. I have now used this wonderful work in this poster-like work in November 2012.
