Purchased for a friend whose great-great-grandfather, William Armstrong, was one of the blessed ones who chose a white bean. He loves it, and it has a place of honor next to the photo of his great-great-grandfather above his desk.

This watercolor depicts two small fisherman\'s homes in the coastal village of Stonington, CT. The small peninsula of Stonington was until fairly recently primarily a Portugese fishing community. Today it is a beloved tourist destination. The original painting has been sold, but the image is available as a Print on Demand. About Ian Newbury

Ian Newbury, b. 1965 I began painting watercolors while traveling around Europe in 1989. I was simply hoping to record some memories of a great trip, but in the process I found a career. In the years that have followed I have developed my craft, learning from the artists who have inspired me. For the past 15 years Iíve maintained a studio in the small town of Westerly, RI. The area is becoming recognized as an artist community. I'd have to say my inspiration for becoming a painter boils down to a few simple words of guidance from a mentor earlier in life: "You can't do that for a living." Sometimes our motivation comes from unlikely sources, and that truly was mine. Out of an act of rebellion I found my way to contentment. ...
