DOE ON AUTUMN RIDGE by KAREN WILES
I had hoped to rise early to capture the eastern glow of the morning sunrise in Blowing Rock, North Carolina. I rose being disappointed, as there would be no sunrise to see this particular morning, only a mist of rain and heavy fog. I decided to venture out to see what beauty I might find anyway. To my surprise, I found splendor among the late Autumn red trees gleaming with morning mist against the heavy clouds of fog floating along the mountain ridge.
As I looked down below, two doe had paused to watch me clicking away with my camera. As nature would have it, I had found the morning beauty I was seeking without the rising sun at all...
