Painting - Batik Watercolor On Ginwashi Rice Paper
Dolphin frolicking and feeding is a treasured spectacle along the Gulf Coast. Dozens of "Dolphin Cruise" boats can be seen, daily, watching the local waters for this entertaining jumping and playing. This painting was inspired by a photo that Jack Snow of Offshore Imaging took while a dolphin was jumping and playing in the wake of a large sport-fishing boat.
My paintings are all hand-drawn and hand-painted (by me) on a fine rice paper with a wonderful texture that is showcased in the torn edge of the piece. I use acid-free, archival ink then apply alternating applications of liquid-hot, melted wax and watercolor pigment to produce the final detailed, yet loose, luminous, and expressive painting.
