A charcoal and acrylic sketch on newsprint, this piece will age as the paper will yellow with time. I admire this natural change, however, and consider it to add beauty to the work. It may become fragile and should be framed properly to protect it from wear. The image is not fixed, as the paper is too delicate for fixative. Despite these precautions, this is among my favorites. It is an older work than most of the figure drawings I have presented, and is what I call a happy accident. It was little more than a quick sketch, hence its execution on newsprint. The acrylic subtly distinguishes the highlights from the mid tones of the flesh.
