Description
ENCOUNTER AT THE FEEDER by Lynn Bauer - When the spring migration comes to town, things get a bit competitive at the feeders! Some of the hummingbirds are content to just sit and feed together, while some of the more aggressive birds fight for their place at the table! In Southern California we see many types of hummingbirds in the spring - Anna's. Allen's and Costas (which tend to actually stay throughout most of the year) as well as the ones that just migrate through, which are the Rufous, Broad Tailed, Calliope, Black Chinned, and a few other less common ones. I always love seeing a broad range of colors, as well as the bright faces of the males, softer colors of the females, and the sweet curiosity of the babies and juveniles!
Taken in a back yard garden in Southern California.

This is lovely...I never had more than two!

Thank you, Marcia!! I've worked hard at setting my yard up to draw them in! Hummingbird flowers, nesting materials, lots of feeders and fountains! The numbers keep growing!!
