I bought this for Christmas for my daughter-in-law who just visited Barcelona. She’s going to love it! It’s a beautiful piece and I really like the print mounted on wood.

Came out sepia color. I may have requested that by mistake. Other than that it’s good.

The artwork is stunning. The mounting on wood was awful and actually damaged the print. Had to be returned due to damage.

This particular scene is from a place very near my father’s house and the memorial bench for his late wife. He himself has taken many similar photographs of this beautiful spot. I love this photograph. I had hoped that having it printed on wood would give it additional depth and character. Unfortunately, the wood grain obscures many areas of the image. I regret not simply having it printed on canvas or having a regular framed print made.

This is simple and elegant and lovely printed on wood and hung next to a Bee by the same artist. We’re Poppy and Beebee to our grandkids so they love seeing them in the guest room.

Artist's Description

Painted from a collage, I composed the image that most intrigued me. That was goal one in making this. Goal two was to give myself a challenge with painting new textures. This is some of my most detail oriented work. The steering wheel and dashboard took from 6pm to 4am one day, for example. People ask what it means, and I reply that it's simply an empty image that speaks a thousand words. To me, there's a contrast between the deathly figure and the godly hand that pits the difference between perseverance and indulgence. This wouldn't work if they weren't both painted in fleshy colors. The stage Death (if that's what you wanna call him) stands upon is dressed with excited red and gold, but beneath the dressing is a nasty colored organic look--expressing the nature of the world we live in. The objects in the briefcase sit opposite the books in hand, illustrating the difference between fun and discipline. And the car is simply an element of control. But the funny thing about control is t...

About David Corrigan

To make mine a unique "voice" in the chorus of artists singing to us throughout history with their own visual languages, I came up with a new visual style. I call this my Memoryscape Period. I try to paint the way we create memories in a moment. There's always so much that demands our attention, while we try soaking it up the best we can.
