European hedgehog (Erinaceus europaeus) in a woodland at night. The European hedgehog is commonly found in Eurasian woodland, farmland and suburban areas and feeds on slugs, earthworms and insects. When scared, it curls itself up into a tight ball to protect itself from predators using its sharp spines. Photographed in the UK.
