Description
The Woldsway is a national footpath that explores the unspoilt beauty of the Yorkshire Wolds which is still relatively unknown compared to its more famous cousins – The Dales and the North Yorkshire Moors. It is more agricultural than the aforementioned areas but with its rolling Wolds and traditional hedgerows it has a compelling beauty. It is justifiably famous for its ‘big skies’ and this was a good example as evening began to fall near the deserted medieaval village of Wharram Percy. I liked the dark shadows in sharp contrast with the soft evening light and painted very freely and quickly with a very limited palette.
