This image is only available as a LEP...it is 18x18. By itself, it is $95, but if purchased with the previous black horse (From the Place of the Sun)...the two are offered for $160, which includes shipping in the USA!

Coming from Tucson, this moody piece brings back thoughts of so much of the culture down there. Love the light on the blanket, a beautiful piece

Well, I tried to answer each of the notes above...but that part on this window DOES NOT WORK...only this bottom window!?! Weird...to each of you ... thank you for the compliments...to the 2nd one above...not sure why you are referring to this piece as a "digital work"...the original was oil on canvas!

Wow........Gr8 work.......Betty...........!!!!!!!!!!! ............( .-)

yes, good digital work, Betty!

Wonderful painting you created, Betty! Love the color composition, so well done!

GOSH... this is for all of you, above and below! WHEN I created this piece, it came from my heart...in that "special space of love"...doesn't happen all the time...AND SORRY FOR BEING SO "LATE" in thanking all of you...but I never received a notice, til tonight, with these last 2 remarks! I do have 18x18 prints made of it (not thru FAA)...but with fade resistant inks, high quality paper...and normally they market for $95...but offer them for $82.00... think half the edition of 750 is in private collections! AGAIN...thank you all!! Betty

BOY... thank you...again!!! SHE was a real special piece!!!

Simply a masterpiece... Ana

This is brilliant, no doubt!

So beautiful..

Betty, I've admired this painting for years! So glad I stumbled across your work here!

love it

Beautiful Betty love all your work. Linda

A very somber mood offset by the brilliant red of the blanket.. like that..

Tote Bag Reviews (1375)

I ordered this bag to be used by my very handsome 84 year old gentleman friend when he goes to water aerobics with me everyday, He grew up in Harvey Illinois as the oldest of five children in a economically challenged family. There were no books in his home and he was thrilled to find a public library where they let you borrow books to take home and read. It was the start of a lifetime of the love of reading and learning and the pathway for financial success. Thank you William Brody for creating this painting.

Artist's Description

This LEP "Evening Solitude" and "Place of the Sun" can be purchased as a set for $165. The images are 18x18, editions of 750. With evening setting in, she turns and views the end of the day! The original sold back in 1979 for $3,000.00! Today, it is worth three times that!!! AND regardless of price, this has always been one of my favorite "mood" paintings! I went back to the reservation where I photographed her, to give her some gifts, in gratitude for capturing her spirit. I never found her! BUT, I did find a young girl with the same colored shawl. When I asked her mother is she knew this woman, she said no. It seems that during their ceremonial "parades", the women had a chosen color to do their shawls for any one year, thus there could be upwards of 12 or 15 families with this shawl! I have looked for her, for over 25 years, to "thank her" for her beautiful spirit!

About Betty Jean Billups

Betty Jean Billups

Capturing an inner feeling, so quickly passing, that's beyond words, almost beyond thought: the nuances that dance between a mountain & the sky that embraces her, creating a symphony that the eyes perceive, but only the soul remembers. This celebration of light upon the physical & ethereal worlds, creates a love affair for the viewer. It's this special moment that excites me, that drives me to risk failure, if I but the chance to capture a fraction of what I see, feel or know, from this wonderful experience we call "Life!!" Before 1986 the word "plein air" had not been used in the United States art field since around the 1920s. An artist from Catalina Island called me, and asked me to do ONE national advertisement, to promote a group...
