On 11/4 my dad had a stroke. When I got ‘the call’ I was working on this painting; I put my brushes in water and rushed to the hospital where I basically stayed until he sadly passed away on 12/5.
I have picked up my brushes again and finally finished this painting called Farewell Flowers because it reminds me of the sweet passing of time and life and how we, like flowers in a vase, are only here temporarily and how we should enjoy the precious time we are here. I had to say farewell to my daddy but I know I will see him again someday. I know I will see him everyday in the clouds and the birds and in the flowers.
Life is good my friends! Enjoy it and have a very HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I work with acrylic paint on canvas. I enjoy paint for its flexibility and the fun unexpected things that happen when experimenting with it. My work is about paint, creativity, experimentation and how you feel when certain colors are used in relation to shape and design. I love to play with the negative space around objects. I sometimes give more importance to the space between things than the object itself. I like to create energy that you do not see or expect in those negative spaces. I enjoy creating many layers with different marks and brush strokes and masking out interesting shapes. I basically paint intuitively in the beginning and then I hone it in with more defined marks and masks. I also love to scratch away at the paint to show...
