I love the piece so much! How well it works in my whimsical blue garden! I just did not know to depict the rabbit hole in the Alice in Wonderland area that this is the perfect conceptual representation. It is beautiful and whimsical. As I had to place it on a stump where a branch had been sawed, I hired a one skilled with a jigsaw to round the edges a bit for visual believability and, after attaching it to the stump, added tiny pieces of bark around the edge to help it blend with the stump. Great discovery!

Somebody shares an image of this with me on august 2nd. I did some research and found this one for sale and bought the version printed on Wood!! I love it! In fact my Abyssinian Fabia loves it too!! She gets up on my dresser and paws the face of this beauty gently!! No claws out thank gosh!! I though it was neat that she found beauty in it as I did! Thanks for having such a fabulous imagination!!

Artist's Description

Two beautiful statues set the age old welcome to Saint Augustine Village, also known as the Dow Museum, on the corner of Cordova and Bridge Streets in St. Augustine. There are 9 houses there built between 1790 and 1910. It is believed to be the site of the first hospital in the country and where the slaves were freed in Florida.

About Phil King

Phil King is a former Air Force base photographer, where he did support services for the SR-71, the fastest plane in the world. He taught photography at the State University of New York and has worked as a photojournalist for many concerts, newspapers, and magazines. Phil has photographed such stars as Jimi Hendricks and sat on stage with the likes of Frank Zapa. Phil still contributes often to local publications such as S.A.M. (St. Augustine Magazine). After an early retirement in 2004, Phil moved to Saint Augustine. While following his romantic dreams of driving a horse and carriage in the 'Nation's Oldest City', and living on a houseboat he refurbished. As Phil began photographing and writing the history of the Ancient...
