This Flammulated Owl, known as Mazie, was in the care of South Bay Wildlife Rehab in southern California. She came in with a head trauma and couldn't be released back in the wild. I have been a volunteer for SBWR for over 23 years and we are usually able to return approximately 70% of the injured birds back into the wild after rehabilitation. She was an Embassador for quite a number of years.

Although I have traveled extensively throughout the United States, my heart and soul belong to Africa. The people, sights, smells, sounds, sunrises, sunsets, landscapes, animals and birds bring so much joy to my heart, my whole life has changed. From my very first trip in1993 to South Africa and Zimbabwe to my last trip to South Africa and Namibia, every time I return home I can't wait to start planning my next trip. Besides receiving numerous awards for some of my images, quite a few images have been published over the years in travel brochures, newspaper articles and advertisements.
