There's no shortage of old forts along the coast of New England. Most date back to the revolutionary days when they were used to defend ports from British attack. These are what's left of inner walls at Fort Constitution in New Castle NH. Prior to this, it was known as Fort William and Mary until local Patriots stormed it and gained control for use against Great Britain.
