Fossilized Populus latior leaf (11 cms wide). Populus latior, now extinct, was a large flowering tree. This specimen, which measures 11 centimetres wide, was discovered in Oeningen, near Baden, Germany. It dates back to the Miocene (23 to 5.3 million years ago).
