Description
This Clay Basket is made of two colors of High Fired Clay, Basket Reed (the core of rattan), and Raffia, (a palm leaf). The title of this pattern is "Friendship Dance". This piece measures 4 1/8" tall by 5 3/4" wide. The stitch on the rim of the clay bottom is done in reed and raffia, with a skip stitch. The Lid is made from Reed & Raffia, and done in a figure 8 stitch, using 3 colors of raffia together to make the patterns. The men and women in the dance are holding hands all the way around the pattern. The mesa pattern is continual as well.
This piece is hand made, and is an original. I threw this pot on a wheel and fired it in the year 2000, and it is signed on the bottom. I wove the basket elements in 2008. If you are interested in this piece for purchase, or have any other questions, please feel free to contact me.
