This is a watercolor painting by Marilyn Smith featuring all the components of usable items that came "from this earth". It contains several Mexican pots that have seen much usage in their day with cracks and chips missing from them. A Mexican rug is draped over the open window that also looks over the desert scenery. Mountains, desert, and saguaro cacti are visible in the distance. An Anna's hummingbird stopped by the claret cup cactus that is growing in a clay pot adorned with leather beside succulent filled pottery on the cobblestone patio. Part of the pepper crop has spilled from the handwoven basket onto the Mexican tile steps. The old southwestern adobe walls are very cracked revealing the old brick foundation underneath. The sunlight is pouring onto the patio wall creating a bright, cheery background.
This style of southwestern desert and Arizona art has become a favorite of mine. I hope you enjoy it too!
