Night time scene of the McCormick Mansion on Astor Street in Chicago, Illinois. A black and white original painting on card stock. A dark and mysterious view of Chicago's Gold Coast neighborhood featuring the mansion and ghostly figures. The building was originally built in 1892, and designed by architect Stanford White. For many years this building was home to The Bateman School, a private school. The building and surrounding area sit on what once was a graveyard up until the great Chicago fire in 1867. It is said that many dispossessed souls still haunt their final resting place. Mr. Floodstrand, the artist, attended The Bateman School as a boy and has fond and some spooky memories of the school on Astor street and East Burton Place. Appropriate as a Halloween, dark holiday, or anytime greeting card for those who are seeking something different to reflect a more macabre mood. In the vein reminiscent of artist Charles Addams, Mr. Floodstrand brings us a "Full Moon on Astor Street".
