Description
Future Circular Collider (FCC), schematic satellite map. North is at top. The FCC (white circle) is a possible future collider that would expand on the work done by the Large Hadron Collider (LHC, blue circle). The energies attained by the FCC would be around 30 times that of the LHC, which is shown at upper centre. This map shows the areas of Switzerland and France (border shown in yellow) where the FCC would be built, forming a ring some 80 to 100 kilometres in length. At top centre is Lake Geneva. The FCC concept has been proposed by CERN (the European particle physics laboratory) since 2013, with a conceptual design report produced in 2019. Image published in 2018.
