Garabit viaduct. 19th-century illustration of the construction of the Garabit viaduct, a railroad bridge built between 1880 and 1884 to a design by Gustave Eiffel. The main arch shown here spans 165 metres over the river Truyere in southern France. The total length of the bridge is 565 metres.
