I love the painting, and fabric! I’ve always had Border Collies, so they are perfect for me! The insert stuffing is a little lumpy. But i am very satisfied.
There is an island just to the southeast of Gargantua Harbour. From my vantage on the sandy beach it looked like the island was simply an extension of the peninsula that protected the harbour. I liked the trees and the streets of stratocumulus embedded in the chilly northerly flow. There was once a lighthouse on that island. The light keeper had to row from his home in Gargantua every day to tend the light. I only had the automated beacon to paint.
It is challenging to sign your name to these very rough panels. Sometimes the scratched signature is almost impossible to see so I dot the "i" of Chadwick with a jab of red oil. Only the red dot shows up on this very rough panel. The entire story is on the back of the panel anyway.
I paint outside - nothing between my eyes and the inspiration. That special connectivity gets into the pigments and you quickly realize that we are all stewards of the land, privileged to appreciate its beauty during our lifetime but responsible for leaving the environment better off for the future and all inhabitants... Phil was born and raised along the St. Lawrence of Ontario, Canada and studied at Queens University as a nuclear physicist. A meteorologist for Environment Canada for 35 years, Phil specializes in severe weather and training. Remote sensing is his forte - you might want to see a tornado before you die... but not just before you die! He has farmed, raised bees, written books and articles, lectured and instructed...
