Photographic artwork by Cindy Treger. Photographed at the Gettysburg Battlefield in Gettysburg, PA. There were many types of cannons used during the Civil War, but there were mainly three used at the Battle of Gettysburg. They were the 12-pounder napoleon, made from bronze and weighing 1,227 pounds with a range of 1,619 yards; the 3-inch ordanance rifle, made from wrought iron weighing 820 pounds with a range of 4,830 yards; and the 10-pounder parrott, made from iron and weighing 890 pounds with a range of 1,850 yards. There 634 cannons at the Battle of Gettysburg.
