Description
Glue ear and dermoid cyst, otoscope view. Glue ear is a chronic case of otitis media (middle ear infection) in which an accumulation of fluid in the middle ear causes hearing loss. This view shows a case of long-standing glue ear in a child. The tympanic membrane (eardrum) is dull and retracted, with radial blood vessels within the membrane. There is also an unusual dermoid cyst (white) within the membrane.
