Indigenous to North America, Turkeys were first domesticated in Mexico around 800 B.C.; they were domesticated in 200 B.C. in the Southwestern area of the United States. The proud turkey was once put forth by Benjamin Franklin as a candidate for our national bird instead of the bald eagle. Turkeys were eventually exported to Europe, where there are now several thriving flocks. Our throw pillows are printed with images of these surprisingly attractive birds.
