This painting depicts a treasured fall day that will live on in my memory forever. My son Lex, my 87 year old mother, and I took a picnic to the Golden Gate State Park near our home in Colorado. You never know when you head to the mountains if you will catch the aspens in the height of perfection, and on this day, we were stunned with our good fortune. The leaves and the lighting were breath taking. My mom, her hiking days behind her, waited at our picnic table, soaking in the autumn glow, while Lex and I took a walk. Here he is, disappearing into the encroaching shadows.
