Description
In July, 2013, I went to Hall Ranch with a group of plein air painters. HallRanch is located in Lyons, Colorado, USA. This place is a biker's or hiker's dream. There are gorgeous vistas in every direction. This place also has rattlesnakes, so one must be careful. I have personally known 2 painters who have had close-up experience with the rattlers here. Therefore, I chose to paint this scene from the parking lot. I took a little artistic license and made the rabbit brush bloom. I love rabbit brush. It doesn't typically bloom until later in September. This painting has lovely texture that I applied in an impressionistic manner with my palette knife. This piece is done in my signature style. Even though I started it on location, I finished it in my studio. In, April, 2015, I gifted this painting to a dear, DEAR friend.

The three triangular trees that lead the viewer into the composition are so playful and eye catching! I also love the textures and color...like!!
