Description
I discovered the original image on Wikimedia by accident. I was, of course, looking for something entirely different. The Port of Audierne was taken by Gustave Gain around 1900. It’s in the Brittany area being on the Goyen river, a tributary leading to the Atlantic Ocean.
I tinkered with the autochrome by using a variety of Photoshop and Topaz tools in order to brighten the image and digitally re-work it as a painting.
Gustave Gain was born in 1876 in Cherbourg . He was a French chemist and photographer who used to repeatedly exposed his autochromes. He died in 1945 in Paris.
