Impressive.

Strong portrait, love it.

Wow! This just GREAT!... Very well done, the light the tone... Perfect! V

Excellent Harold, I love that you got the idea from Manet and the way you dressed and have the one glove - your work is just always so amazing to see and this is classic and beautifully done - what a handsome man !! The lighting is my favourite part... so simple but so much going on with this portrait WOW

It takes great talent plus a lifetime of study to produce such a work, I think your presence on FAA raises the bar for all of us.

nice self portrait

Magnificent painting!!!

Harold, your portrait skills are just superb! Great self portrait.....an instant favorite! :)

This painting is just awsome on so many levels .A testament to the great masters .Great Job

The majesty of that portrait deceives one into thinking that it is larger than it actually is. This is powerful. I am really impressed with this portrait.

Excellent portraiture! Your skills are as great as any of the old masters.

My father loved it.

I was very disappointed with the end result - photo shows grey tones in the sky but the one we received is brown. It does not go with the décor of the room at all. Wish there was a disclaimer that states color isn't guaranteed. Not sure what I'll do with the picture but it won't be displayed as intended.

Artist's Description

This formal portrait was painted in 2004. The cane is used for my long walks. I got this idea from a portrait of Manet. He was wearing a top hat, ascot, a ruffled shirt and a black sports coat. I put on a turtle neck shirt instead with a blue blazer. He was only wearing one glove too. This painting took First Place in an international competition.
