The torch ginger flower is called Awapuhi-ko 'oko' o in Hawaiian. It grows to about 5 feet tall with 7 inch wide waxy, pinecone-shaped, edible flowers. It is one of the tallest, if not the tallest ginger found here in Hawaii.
I made this photograph into a dreamy digital watercolor as if it was calling out to everyone to come to Hawaii and see all of its tropical wonders.
