I planted these bulbs one fall and looked forward to seeing what an "Easter Basket Mix" would look like. The picture on the package showed pastel shades of many colors. Imagine my surprise when these magenta beauties opened up! The silver pitcher is one given to my daughter by her grandmother and the lilacs were started from my mother's bush which was started from my grandmother's bush--- all of which inspired the title "Heirlooms".

Heirlooms was selected for a "Special Showcase" feature in Impressionism group and it has been added to the Curator's Pick archive in the group's discussions as well! 2/22/2019. Thank you, Lori Pittenger! I am honored.

I grew up exploring the outdoors here in Southwest Virginia. My family would often go for long drives and end up hiking in the woods where my parents would identify plants and trees and point out animal tracks as they taught us to appreciate the awesomeness of God's creation. I can still remember the first time I saw a pink "Ladies Slipper" growing up out of a pile of leaves deep in a forest. Those adventures with my family still inspire my landscape paintings today but I'm also blessed with a group of friends who love to paint outdoors.
