Description
๐ A Series of the Curve-billed Thrasher's daily routine and antics can be viewed in my "Desert Birds Collection." Their story.๐
We have many Sonoran Desert dwellers, who have made our home, their home. The Arizona Sonoran Desert's Curve-billed Thrasher (Toxostoma curvirostre) is common in our desert garden of joy. It's said to generally reside where cholla and saguaro cacti, ocotillo, mesquite and palo verde trees, and creosote bushes are prevalent. They seem to love to make their nests in the Jumping Cholla Cactus around my home.
"Spring Has Sprung" once again, after a fairly wet winter. Curve-billed Thrashers have decided to build their nest in a Jumping Cholla or Chain Fruit Cholla cactus. This time it is a cholla cactus right next door to a previously used cholla cactus. I guess you could call that "flipping houses" in the bird world (it seems they came up with the idea first).
I enjoy their comical antics, watching them in action. I saw this one hopping along the ground of my desert garden of joy, collecting tiny twigs and other paraphernalia. So I decided to watch where it was going with these items. Voila, there it was.
It was moving all around inside, and I carefully approached. Out it hopped, as though it knew it had an audience. Looking straight at me (with its eagle face on), as though to say, "Hey! Do You Mind!" I'm working here. It's probably tough enough doing so, while its birdie feet are traversing this stickery, tight quarters, without the help of onlookers.

This looks to be a bit grouchy, Janet! Perfect title for him!....Fav / Like

It took some doing to capture this series, as this bird was really working diligently to make this nest work. All I could see was the back end of her or him, and then leaped out, and gave me this look. They are quite comical birds, and are fun to listen to as well. Thank for appreciating my work, that means a lot!

Miserable expression:) Love his mean little look! L/F
Janet Marie replied:
Their facial structure looking straight on, gives them a grumpy look. It was busy on the nest, and detected a disruption. Of course how happy can you look walking on thorns. Thank you , Alida, for stopping by my gallery and sharing your thoughts about this. I am glad you like it and have chosen it as one of your favorites too! I truly appreciate it. Janet ๐

Nice capture Janet although he doesn't look happy about having his picture taken lol L/F
Janet Marie replied:
They do have that grumpy look, when viewing them straight on. As though they are all business, and how dare you interrupt my day. I am glad you like this and feel itโs a nice capture. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and choosing this as one of your favorites too! I truly appreciate it. Janet ๐

Fabulous capture, my artBUDette! I love his expression! I don't know how they navigate in all of those thorns, but he seems to like the neighborhood. The colors and detail in this are absolutely exquisite. L/F Featured in American Desert Southwest.

My dear Jane! Thank you so very much for the HOMEPAGE FEATURE in your โoh so feel good,โ Art Group, โAMERICAN DESERT SOUTHWEST!โ I truly appreciate this special recognition of my artwork. I am delighted that you like this and feel itโs fabulous. These Sonoran Desert dwellers were just made for the Cholla Cactus, as they build their nests there, treading lightly on their feet to get around. I enjoy capturing their antics in my desert garden of joy. Your aweSoMe words expressed brings me great joy! I also appreciate you choosing this as one of your favorites too! That always means so much. Big hugs artBUDette, Janet ๐

Great capture of this fierce little bird! LF
Janet Marie replied:
Thank you Kate for visiting and leaving such a nice comment. They are a fairly good size bird about 12โ. And they do have such a stern look. I would have that look too, if I stood on long cactus spines. I am glad you like it and feel itโs a great capture. I appreciate knowing that and for choosing this as one of your favorites too! Janet ๐
