superb artwork Glenn!

Excellent work Glenn!

What a wonderful honor to have your work shown at the American society of Marine Artists Northeast Regional Exhibit - so well deserving of that and more; this is so realistic and exceptional artwork which inspires and delights - congratulations!!!

The "Cruel Sea" is one of my favorite novels. Your painting captures the spirit of the ship in the story. Unlike the destroyers dodging about, HMS Compass Rose, unassuming in her weather beaten and rusted hull, plods along, faithfully doing her duty. A painting well done, sir.

Congratulations!

Unbelievably incredible!!!!!

Congratulations Glenn!!!!!!!!!

This is breath taking, and warming a "old" navy hearth. Thanks for sharing this moment in time both historical and artistic.

WOW! What gems you have here at FAA. This painting looks like you were there to capture it.

What a nice piece. I can feel the movement of the ocean. Gorgeous

Love the water reflections! I have used this for my Winter phone cover for years. You can almost feel the crisp air and the warm sun on you as you walk through the scene. Awesome talent!

I have actually ordered this cover twice for two different phone to use as my Summer cover. Beautiful scene where it feels like you could just lay down a blanket and have a picnic under that big tree. Wonderfully done!

I am currently using this as my phone cover for Summer. It just says what an enjoyable day on the beach! Love the pop of color and the breezy feel. I get a lot of compliments on my phone covers I have gotten of Scott’s painting over the years. I like to change out the covers for the seasons using his nature scenes. Perfect!

Artist's Description

This is the third painting in my "Ships That Never Were" series. It depicts the British, Flower Class corvette "HMS Compass Rose" protecting an allied convoy during the early years of World War II. She and her crew are the subject of Nicholas Monsarrat's finest novel: "The Cruel Sea" first published in 1951. The painting was selected to be shown at the American Society of Marine Artists Northeast Regional Exhibit from May 2008 until January 2009.

Having spent almost all of my life near or on the sea, my first love is marine subjects. Concentrating in oils and watercolors, my other interests are landscapes and still-lifes.
