love it! good work on this peice..

Glenn, your life as a captain must have been exciting. Your ships and airplanes are amazing. You have the war on one side and the peace on the other....very beautiful.

The roar of the engines, the smell of smoke and the peril they all face: you have captured it all.

Love this! Got one for me and one for a friend. I framed it in a red painted frame to which I added red glitter. So cute!!

Love the painting, Hypatia is so pensive, I believe she is pondering her latest experiment!!! The muted colors add to the calmness of the painting.

this appears to be a printer (ink jet) type print. I was disappointed with the quality. I'm sorry.

Artist's Description

This is the fourth painting in my "Ships That Never Were" series. HMS Ulysses was the ill-fated, British Dido Class, light cruiser featured in Alister MacLean's first and, perhaps, best novel of the same name published in 1955. My painting shows her heavily engaged in anti-aircraft defense while escorting the battered remnants of Convoy FR77 on the infamous Murmansk Run.

About Glenn Secrest

I'm a retired US Navy Captain and former business executive. While I have not had any academic training in painting, I've been privileged to work under the guidance of several of today's masters. I studied drawing with Thomas Deininger of the Newport (Rhode Island) Art Museum and oil painting with Scott Christensen in his Idaho studio. I`ve also participated in workshops with internationally-known artists Tony Couch and Tom Lynch in the Carolinas; and Randall Scott, Larry Gerber, Charles Gruppe`and Hugh O`Neill in Florida. Having spent almost all of my life near or on the sea, my first love is marine subjects. Concentrating in oils and watercolors, my other interests are landscapes and still-lifes.
