Description
It’s not often that you get such a big reward for so little effort! But that’s the case with Hokitika Gorge, located about 30 km from the town on Hokitika on the west coast of the South Island of New Zealand. In less than 1 km of very easy walking from carpark you reach the turquoise blue Hokitika River and Gorge. First, there is a tantalizing overlook point where you can view the gorge and some downstream farmland. Then you cross a swing bridge over the gorge, and finally to this viewpoint on the rocks upstream from the swing bridge (shown). I never got tired of the turquoise water of so many of the streams and rivers in New Zealand. And I also never got tired of swing bridges even though I never did figure out a graceful way to cross one!

Joan, What a great find and an excellent detailed capture of Hokitika Gorge. Stunning details in the landscape and such an inviting color of the water

Questa foto racconta bene di quando tra cielo e terra non c'era separatione. This picture tells very well the time when there was no separation among sky and earth.
