I see a lot of deer on my photographic journeys around NY, but rarely do I see a buck. Imagine my surprise when I found a nice 6 point buck, got a half dozen shots and then walked 20 yards and found this beauty peering out at me! Two bucks and one doe, feeding on the saplings, in thick underbrush! I just couldn't believe my eyes! It was a difficult situation for photos, as it was quite dark and line of sight was tough. At 12 lbs, I don't often shoot without a tripod in low light, with my 600 mm lends, but I shot this photo handheld at 125th of a second. It was a wonderful gift on Thanksgiving morning!
