I was taking a hike up a trail that appears to have been a old logging road, now overgrown. The trees in these woods are second-growth, although I'm unsure how long ago the area was logged. Since the canopy is less dense, it has allowed the emergence of smaller trees, like this yellow one, not normally seen in the primary forests in the area. The small bursts of fall color made for a lovely walk, and it was also easier to walk off the trail to explore.
