An artistic rendition of a view within a kaleidoscope. A kaleidoscope is an instrument containing loose bits of colored glass or plastic material, between two flat plates and two plane mirrors, which reflect a wide array of patterns that change each time the colored material changes position. The photograph obtained by putting the lens right on top of the opening of the kaleidoscope was first treated with the software Photo Ninja to enhance details, adjust contrast, and the color intensities. Next, the photograph was treated with GIMP and subjected to cartooning, painting with digital oil, and canvasing. The view unveiled the illusion of multiple starlike formations, with a center that is made up by three chromosome-like structures. The star-like structures are formed of six arms that make up what metaphorically would be similar to a stellar corona with the light radiations from the nucleus of a star. Interestingly, as in many real stars, the kaleidoscopic image shows different types of radiations in this case two, each composed of three darker and thee very transparent radiating projections from each star. Moreover, each radiating projection in a star is is connected to translucent green grape-like ovals. In addition, in each of the three transparent radiating projections had two red small tubular formations on each of their sides. Both the green grape structures and the tubular red formations are bonding with circular similar to a stirring wheel of a boat. Finally and very interestingly, these circular structures connect to other ones from different star-like structures making the whole scene a view of interconnected stars inside the kaleidoscope, reflecting a image of fantasy, surrealism, and abstract beauty.

Hi Linda! Thanks for the comment! I just placed the lense right on top or very close to the opening part of the kaleidoscope, where you look inside of it. Then I stated to move the kaleidoscope to change the pattern as I like and just shoot the camera. It wasn't that difficult.

V This is a very interesting composition that looks just like the real thing when you look through a kaleidoscope. I would be interested to know who you were able to capture this image. The color tones give this an antique appearance.

Thank you so much for this comment, Nancy. Indeed, it is incredible to capture these images. I have a couple more in my gallery. I did not need a very specialized lense though. I have a regular CANON DSL HDR and I used my 50 mm lense.

I have always wanted to do this!!! I even made a lot of calls and discovered that it costs thousands for a lens which would shoot in a kaleidoscope. And you found a way. Brilliant. I applaud this technique. It's an unseen world and you have entered. F/V
