Date night in an urban setting: the couple arrives in the classic red convertible, and outside the theater (it is a theater, isn’t it? Because this is a representational painting, we the viewer can make the story what we want it to be), the man of the party shows that he knows what a gentleman is by skirting around to the lady’s door and giving his hand to help her out.
Now of course, we all know that women are perfectly capable of getting out of cars on their own – although it’s questionable sometimes depending upon the size and sharpness of the heels on their shoes – but the artwork, Into You, celebrates the elegance, the flair, the panache of a special night on the town as a classy couple arrives on the scene with a flair and panache of their own.
Into You finds the couple with eyes on and for each other, two people in love who – though they know how to arrive to make a celebrity scene – actually aren’t paying attention to their surroundings, because they are paying so much attention to each other. Background lights from the city (Chicago? New York?) add ambiance to the evening, promising a night of glitter and gold, adventure and music, love and romance.
Like all representational paintings, Into You invites the viewer to enter the painting and create the story within it, a story that resonates with the viewer’s own life and experience. And because stories are never static, the tale of Into You changes with the seasons and the times of the viewer’s life, as he or she adds and embellishes details, and sometimes, changes the story all together.
Love, romance, date night, and dancing – Into You celebrates the joy and enchantment of romance, and the love of a special couple for one another. A companion piece to Into You is You Are the One, also on this site.
